The Challenge

In 2023, a small grantmaking organization reached out to DelCor as they became aware of increasing cybersecurity risks identified during a financial audit. To improve their security outlook, the organization hoped to work with us to enhance their IT policies and procedures with the goal of fostering a more secure digital environment and a culture of responsible technology use. This effort would also bring the organization closer to meeting cybersecurity insurance requirements, which could further safeguard their assets.

The Process

To form a shared understanding around the project, DelCor met with the organization’s staff to discuss the scope and identify organizational requirements surrounding IT policies and procedures. In another meeting, we also discussed cybersecurity insurance considerations with the organization to support their efforts on that front. Based on the information discussed, we built out a list of IT policies and procedures that aligned with the organization’s strategic goals and operational needs. Finally, DelCor met with the organization to introduce the documents and address questions and concerns with their staff.

The Solution

As a result of the project, DelCor developed 24 documents, 17 of which were devoted to policies while seven covered procedures. By adhering to the guidelines outlined in the documents we created, the organization can help ensure their IT systems are used effectively, securely, and in alignment with organizational goals.

Regular reviews and updates to these policy and procedure documents will help maintain a framework that evolves with the organization’s changing environment and operational needs.
