Last-minute gift guide for the nerd in your life

We teamed up to identify a few gifts for the tech nerd in your life. They’re practically like visions of sugar plums (whatever those are) dancing in our heads.

While we haven’t tried it and it’s not what we’d consider a necessity item, the Cube Laser Virtual Keyboard looks pretty cool.

As 2012 taught us, whether it was Hurricane Sandy or a small thunderstorm, nothing is more frustrating than when the batteries drain from all your mobile devices during a power outage – and you can only charge so many devices in your car. There are several on-the-go battery backups for you to consider, but we think this one provides plenty of options. The Eton Boost Turbine 2000 has a USB connection and an emergency hand crank. Seems more practical than another pair of socks.

Nope, there isn’t an app for this yet (as far as we know), but with protestors, criminals, and doomsdayers everywhere, who wouldn’t want a secret pepper spray iPhone case? For those early morning jogs or your child who just went off to college: an affordable gift of safety.

Finally, because those holiday pounds are creeping up... we want a Nike+ Fuelband. No, it isn’t necessarily new or cheap, but tracking our calories burned and steps earned throughout the day might help us to feel motivated enough to tackle those 2013 resolutions. Just don’t wear it in the pool!
