We are actively seeking a permanent, full-time Network Systems NOC (Network Operations Center) Consultant to provide software, hardware, and computer help desk support to association, nonprofit, and foundation clients in the DC metro area. This is a great position for a professional wanting regularly changing and challenging situations. The position requires great oral and written communication skills, including strong telephone communication skills, and a professional appearance. May require travel to different client locations from time to time within the DC metro area.
The Network Systems NOC Consultant is a full-time, exempt position that requires mandatory coverage from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm every Monday through Friday. The Network Systems NOC Consultant installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots networks and associated assemblies by performing duties personally. The responsibilities of this position are extremely important in supporting the company’s mission of helping association, nonprofit, and foundation clients add value to their communities.
It is essential for the Network Systems NOC Consultant to develop successful client relations by providing strong initiative, listening, and rapport-building skills, cutting-edge IT knowledge and experience, and time-sensitive solutions with the ability to communicate effectively.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides network and application-level support to DelCor client users via phone and remote support applications
- Maintains network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as workstations, system software, software applications, printers, servers, routers, firewalls, switches, cabling, and Internet connections
- On a rotating basis, provides after-hours (evenings/weekends) technical support coverage to clients who call the DelCor NOC and responds to critical monitoring alerts generated after hours and weekends; this coverage is shared by a total of three people and the rotation cycle is one entire week on followed by two entire weeks off
- Monitors developments to and enhances the Network Foundation Suite application and communicates these changes and enhancements to the DelCor NSS (Network Systems & Support) staff
- Monitors and maintains client network infrastructure/server stability by leveraging the DelCor Network Foundation Suite platform
- Updates and closes service request tickets on a timely basis
- Establishes and maintains network accounts, user environment, directories, and security as required
- Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software applications and systems
- Understands and ensures standards for the use, operations, and security of network, workstations, and data
- Communicates with peers and supervisor to resolve software, hardware, and operations problems
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new technology products, applications, and other system integration related topics, including (but not limited to) software releases, industry hardware and software developments, and office automation trends
- Maintains daily calendar, tracks time, and details significant events and weekly support activities
- Provides activity summary documents to DelCor and clients as needed
- Recognizes and acts upon needs of clients that can be met by DelCor-provided services
- Prioritizes client support functions
- Identifies new business opportunities with existing clients
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with Microsoft LANs and working with multi-server environments
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Truly excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
