Introduction

Man with look of surprise covering mouthI was fortunate enough to attend ASAE's Great Ideas Conference earlier this month. Naturally, I can't say every idea I walked away with was "great," but I can say that I walked away refreshed and reenergized to make some changes not only to the way I think, but also to the way I "do."

I made a very strong effort to attend as many sessions as I could and, for the most part, they were very good. David DeLorenzo, Craig Dellorso, and Jeff Shields told their story of "Failure to Fabulous" as it relates to their social media efforts - it was one of the better sessions. Though we've heard plenty about social media, their story wasn't tired. Also, as far as I could tell, their only problem when they tried to launch a platform the first time around was that they were ahead of their time. Good for them.

Jeffrey Cufaude also hosted a rather good session - using Reggie Henry as the announcer for a game show format. A lot of good, useful, thought-provoking commentary (as you'd expect from Jeffrey) and a few linguistic mishaps from the panel and contestants - and much learning and hilarity ensued. All good fun.

In any event, one of the issues I heard a few times (again) was that folks don't have the money to investigate or seed their ideas. To help with that, we've rounded up a few sponsors and we are putting some money on the table. If you haven't checked out #hackaction, please do so - and consider coming yourself or sending a staff member who wants some time to think creatively with other execs. We are putting our money where your mouth is. Take advantage of it if you can.
